Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson currently stars in the box office hit "San Andreas," a throwback to the over-the-top disaster movies of the
1970s, such as "The Poseidon Adventure," "Earthquake," and "The Towering Inferno."
As you would expect with a film about a 9.1 earthquake that destroys Los Angeles and most of
California, there are plenty of amazing visual effects. But while most action films shoot their actors in front of green screens and add the special effects in post-production, "San Andreas" tried a different approach.
Johnson told us that many of the film's effects were shot on actual sets, which gave the movie an air of authenticity.
