ELLEN DEGENERES REMEMBERS THE NIGHT THAT CHANGED HER CAREER

Ellen DeGeneres is one of the most beloved talks show hosts/comediennes in the world. DeGeneres will be returning for the second time to host the Academy Awards. Many don’t remember that DeGeneres started her career as a standup comedienne. Her career really took off when she made her first appearance on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson in 1986. Back when the iconic talk show host Carson was on the air, comediennes would do anything to get on the show to perform. If Carson liked the comedy routine, he would then give a thumbs up sign or call you back to the couch to talk. If that happened, a comedienne’s career was made. Such is exactly what happened to DeGeneres on that night after she performed what is possibly the funniest standup routine in the history of The Tonight Show. We spoke to DeGeneres, who recalled the night that changed her life forever.
