'FAMILY GUY' CREATOR SEEKS OUT BILLIONS & BILLIONS OF STARS... WITH 'COSMOS'

On Sunday, FOX launches an ambitious reworking of the classic 1980 Carl Sagan documentary series, "Cosmos."  Hosted by noted astronomer (and Sagan disciple) Neil deGrasse Tyson, and produced with the involvement of Sagan's widow, Ann Druyan, the new series, "Cosmos: A Space-Time Odyssey," looks like it will stay true to its legendary roots (although updated with modern effects).

"Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane was a young boy when the original series aired, and it helped spark an interest in science that has stayed with him to this day.  So remaking "Cosmos" for a new audience became a passion for him.

"Cosmos: A Space-Time Odyssey" premieres Sunday night at 9/8 Central on FOX.
